| Clear Blue Easy Digital |
When I first began tracking my cycles, that is, when we were toying with the idea of having a baby, I bought about 100 of those cheap internet brand OPKs on Amazon.com. I used them for almost a year and had so many frustrating moments trying to decide if that stupid pink line was dark enough to be considered positive or not! While they were cheap, they weren't the most reliable or very good at helping find your peak LH level.
Enter the experts! My reproductive endocrinologist recommends Clear Blue Easy digital tests, the one's that show a smiley face when you're at your peak, otherwise known as a positive OPK. He believes these tests are more helpful for women because they leave no room for guessing. If your LH level hasn't peaked, you won't see a smiley face, period. He also recommends using your second urine of the morning rather than the first, since the first is more concentrated and can give you a wrong test result. After using Clear Blue Easy for one cycle I'm totally sold. I don't even care that they are more expensive! One thing to note is that since they are more expensive you don't want to use a whole bunch during one cycle so make sure you have some idea of when you'll ovulate so that you can just use a few each month. The pack I bought from Amazon.com was $35 had 20 tests. I'm hoping to stretch the box for 3 cycles to make it worth the price!

interesting... i've never heard of using the second... although it makes complete sense when you think about it! :)
ReplyDeleteps - i totally agree that the CBE digital OPK's are the way to go. no second guessing!
Hi Kerri! I know, the 2nd morning urine thing never crossed my mind either until my doc told me about it. Good luck to you!!
